To celebrate the end of the contentious campaign season, I thought I’d pick an appropriate song.  Unlike politics though, the argument in the song actually resolves itself.  The song is the Gershwins’ Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off, of the famous “you like potato and I like potahto” fame.  It was written for the 1937 move Shall We Dance which of course starred Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers.  George had moved out to Hollywood the previous year hoping to make enough money to devote himself to more serious composition, but alas, he died in July of 1937.
