A Sunday Kind of Love

The singer Mary Ellen Desmond, with whom I have the frequent pleasure to work, introduced me to A Sunday Kind of Love, a languidly lovely standard that I’d somehow missed.  (She said that  she first learned it when she was asked, somewhat surprisingly, to sing it at a wedding!  Listening to it though, it rather works in its modest, albeit secular, way.)

  Written in 1946 by Barbara Belle, Anita Leonard, Stan Rhodes and Louie Prima, A Sunday Kind of Love was recorded by several singers including Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and my favorite, Jo Stafford.
